先秦初现：熏香习俗可追溯至上古，先民焚烧芳香植物以驱虫、祛湿。《三国志》记载，古人燃香宴集、读书，早期熏炉多为陶制或青铜，如红山文化的灰陶熏炉雏形。

战国发展：陕西凤翔出土的凤鸟衔环铜熏炉，标志着铜制熏炉的诞生。此时熏炉造型简朴，功能以明火焚香为主。

汉代鼎盛：张骞通西域后，香料传入中原，熏炉进入黄金时代。博山炉盛行，炉盖镂空山形，象征“海上仙山”，燃起青烟如云雾缭绕。

唐宋变革：唐代金银器受西域影响，熏炉纹饰华丽，如法门寺地宫出土的鎏金银熏炉；宋代瓷质熏炉崛起，成为文人案头清供。

明清雅玩：熏炉材质扩展到玉石、珐琅，造型愈发精致，如清代掐丝珐琅三足熏炉，成为艺术陈设品。

Development during the Warring States Period: The discovery of a phoenix shaped copper smoking stove in Fengxiang, Shaanxi Province, marked the birth of copper smoking stoves. At this time, the shape of the incense burner is simple, and its main function is to burn incense with an open flame.

The heyday of the Han Dynasty: After Zhang Qian traveled to the Western Regions, spices were introduced to the Central Plains, and smoking stoves entered the golden age. Tang Song Revolution: Tang Dynasty gold and silver utensils were influenced by the Western Regions, and the decorative patterns of incense burners were magnificent, such as the gilded gold and silver incense burners unearthed from the underground palace of Famen Temple; The rise of porcelain incense burners in the Song Dynasty made them a popular choice among literati.
