The painting takes overlapping mountains as the main body. The main peak stands tall, with dense ink used to texture the rocks and light ink to wash the hazy distant mountains, creating a profound sense of space between virtual and real. Waterfalls cascade down like white silk into the valley, echoing the winding streams in movement and stillness; pines take root on the cliffs, with their branches and leaves dotted with dense ink, showing their vigorous character. At the foot of the mountain, several thatched cottages are hidden among the maple forests. The orange-red autumn leaves add a touch of warmth to the lush mountains and forests, and also add a bit of human life to the grand landscape pattern.

不同于早期对古人的摹古，张大千在这幅作品中展现出鲜明的个人风格：他以 “泼墨泼彩” 的技法为基底，又融入了传统的 “披麻皴”“斧劈皴”，让山石既有现代绘画的视觉冲击力，又不失古典山水的笔墨韵味。画面两侧的行书对联 “松云影里涛千尺，杖屐人扶步一止”，与山水意境形成诗画互文，书法的连绵笔势与山峦的起伏脉络达成视觉上的统一，也让作品的文人气质愈发浓厚。

Different from his early imitation of ancient painters, Zhang Daqian showed a distinct personal style in this work: he used the "splashed ink and color" technique as the base, and integrated the traditional "hemp fiber texture" and "axe-cut texture", making the mountains and rocks have both the visual impact of modern painting and the ink charm of classical landscapes. The running script couplets on both sides of the painting, "Waves a thousand feet in the shadow of pine clouds, a walker supported by a staff stops a step", form a poetic and pictorial intertext with the landscape artistic conception. The continuous momentum of the calligraphy and the undulating veins of the mountains achieve visual unity, and also make the literati temperament of the work more intense.
